MA in Conflict Resolution / Program Overview

Ø Background to the program and subject area:

The Conflict Resolution Program is located in the Department of International Relations and Diplomacy at Prince Hussein Bin Abdullah II School of International Studies. The program examines the degree of consensus and disagreement between conflict trends and the causes of conflict and peace. It focuses on the development of skills and knowledge base through the means of conflict management and resolution, such as negotiation, mediation, control, reconciliation, etc. The nature of conflicts in the contemporary world is studied, and the effectiveness of previous and current international efforts to resolve them.

The vision of this program plays a distinctive role in academic development at the national and regional level through the provision of a specialized and in-depth program in Conflict Resolution

The mission of this program is to provide quality education to the students of the program and to help them develop the knowledge, research skills and expertise necessary to serve their communities.

 

Ø Program Aims:

1.    Developing students' understanding of the practices and procedures used in conflict management and resolution.

2.    Defining negotiation skills and conflict resolution.

3.    Raising awareness of key issues of conflict.

4.    Strengthening dispute resolution techniques. It also aims to train them to implement research projects in conflict resolution and prepare them to work in political, diplomatic, governmental and international organizations.
