An advanced course in methodological, theoretical and applied issues in political science, focusing on the philosophy of social sciences, methods and tools of comparative research in international studies and a combination of qualitative and quantitative analysis methods in social sciences. The course also studies scientific research design, information collection techniques, design, selection and measurement of samples, writing reports and scientific research projects, statistical analysis and its computer applications, in addition to studying game theory and its applications. This course deals with the main theoretical frameworks for quantitative research, as it gives students a solid knowledge of the basics of scientific research design. The course deals with the methods of questionnaire design and techniques of statistical analysis and evaluation with regard to related topics. The course also covers the most important developments in the field of measurement and evaluation of tools used in surveys and statistics.

This course aims to introduce the theoretical framework for the concept of political parties and their origins and types of parties, then move on to studying the different party systems: (one party, bipartisanship, and partisan pluralism), and then clarifying the nature of the relationship between the partisan phenomenon and democracy, and studying the attempts that sought to develop a general theory that governs the partisan phenomenon with a focus on the emergence and development of parties in Jordan and their current status, then deals with public opinion and its relationship to political parties, how it is formed, its forms, and the factors affecting it.

This course deals with the definition of electoral systems and identifying the different forms of these systems within their divisions (plurality/majority systems, proportional representation systems, mixed systems) beside it prides a detailed presentation of the different types within them, an explanation of the mechanism for calculating the results, and conducting a comparison of its types, effects, and reflection on the Arab reality. The course also deals with principles of elections and parliamentary representation, and the study of the Greek, English, American and Swiss electoral systems.

The course also reviews the development of the Jordanian feminist movement in terms of reality and discourse, and its impact on the political empowerment of women.

 

In addition, the course focuses on the study of national and international legislative frameworks related to the political empowerment of women, especially in the field of election, political parties and decision-making.
