Prince Hussein College launches the "One Million Plastic Bottles Collection" initiative to support the green economy
The Community Service Committee at Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II College of Political Science and International Studies has launched a pioneering national environmental initiative titled "One Million Plastic Bottles Collection Campaign" to raise environmental awareness and support the green economy.
This initiative, organized in cooperation with college students and in partnership with Bright Vision for Sustainability and Plastic Industries, aims to promote a culture of sustainability across the entire university. The campaign focuses on collecting single-use plastic water and beverage bottles for eco-friendly recycling.
Goals and steps of the initiative The initiative seeks to raise environmental awareness among students and encourage a culture of social responsibility. It also aims to support a future humanitarian project, to be announced later, using the financial returns generated from recycling.
To facilitate collection, blue bins have been placed throughout the college’s facilities, including courtyards, classrooms, and hallways, to receive empty plastic bottles. The campaign targets all college members, including students, faculty, administrative staff, and visitors.
Incentives and continuous follow-up The initiative encourages active participation by offering moral and material incentives to students and participating teams. To ensure transparency and motivate everyone, monthly reports showing the number of bottles collected will be published on the college’s website and official pages.
A group of faculty members oversee the initiative: Dr. Lubna Bayouq, Dr. Rand Irshaidat, Dr. Abdullah Al-Bataineh, and Dr. Abdulsalam Al-Oudat. College students and the committee volunteer to raise awareness and spread the campaign among their peers. The college invites all members of its community to take part in this campaign and contribute to creating a greener, more sustainable university environment
